The Cellar Homebrew :: Winemaking :: Wine Making Instruments
HYDROMETER: Used to measure specific gravity of liquids and thus sugar content for wine and beer makers. Proof and Trailles hydrometers are calibrated for determining alcohol content of distilled spirits (vodka, brandy, etc.). Hydrometers must be used with testing jars (see 22-625) to obtain accurate readings. Instructions are included.
ACID TEST KIT: Determines the total acidity of wine or ‘must’ (unfermented juice) by a simple acid-base titration. This kit allows the winemaker to more accurately determine the finished wine by adjusting acid/sugar balance.
pH PAPER: Measures narrow ranges of acidity of wine or beer before fermentation so minor adjustments can be made.
KITHCHEN SCALE: Measures up to 11 pounds--accurate to 1 ounce. Great for corn sugar, dry malt, etc.
Vinometer: Measures alcohol content in dry white table wine.
Liquid Crystal Thermometer Strip: Adhesive thermometer strip. Reads 36 - 78 F (2 - 26 C).
